Vann's Diagnostic Examination Consists
of:
Facial Analysis:
- Is one eye higher
than the other or one eyebrow
higher than the other?
- Is the nose
deviated to the right or left?
- Is one ear higher
and more flared than the other?
- Is the chin off
to one side?
- Are the eye plane
and bite plane going up to the
same direction or are the eye
plane and bite plane going on the
opposite direction?
- Is one side of
the face wide and the other side
flat?
Skull X-Ray
Analysis:
- Is there a
deviation of the bridge of the
nose?
- Is the airway
narrow? Normal airway space
is between 12 to 15 millimeters.
- Are the tonsils
and adenoids enlarged preventing
the patient from breathing through
his/her nose?
- Is there a double
image of the mandible (lower jaw)?
Dental Analysis:
- Is there a
maxillary (upper jaw) cant either
to the right or the left?
- Is there a
forward pitch of the maxilla?
- Is there evidence
of wear on the teeth due to
clenching or grinding?
