Can Emmi-dent be used for inlays, crowns and bridges?
Yes, ultrasound and Emmi-dent work with fillings, inlays, crowns and bridges of any kind. There are no negative effects when using ultrasound.
Do you need to use the Emmi-dent nano-bubble toothpaste?
Yes, only our special nano-bubble toothpaste has been specifically developed to create millions and millions of nano-bubbles, many more than other toothpaste. Regular toothpaste works also, but the cleansing results are reduced, because there are fewer bubbles and larger bubbles, which aren’t as effective in covering plaque and bacteria. Regular toothpaste also contains abrasives, which damage the enamel.
Does Emmi-dent whiten my teeth?
Yes. By removing stains from coffee, red wine, nicotine, and food, Emmi-dent restores the teeth to their natural color. It contains no chemicals or bleach to damage the enamel.
How is it possible to remove debris and bacteria with ultrasound?
The ultrasound is generated by a microchip directly inside the brush head with an ultrasonic capability. This chip creates the ultrasonic impulses and transmits them via each bristle and the nano toothpaste directly onto the tooth surface and the gum. The photos show how thousands of nano-bubbles cover the plaque. The bubbles are imploding through the ultrasonic impulse, thus effecting the plaque (the cell membrane is cracked by the imploding bubbles). The microscopic bubbles that implode remove impurities such as food scraps, tartar, bacteria, etc.
How long do I brush correctly with Emmi-dent?
Typically the Emmi-dent brush covers three teeth. To clean these teeth, hold the brushhead to the teeth for approximately five seconds. If our teeth are really dirty (e.g. stains from coffee, red wine, food or nicotine), just clean a bit longer.
How long shall I brush my teeth with Emmi-dent? Is the use of Emmi-dent over a longer period dangerous?
Using Emmi-dent is absolutely safe for any period of time. You may use it daily for many minutes for years. There is no risk to your health.
Is ultrasound dangerous?
No, the ultrasonic waves from Emmi-dent are absolutely safe.
Ultrasound has a multi-decade history in medicine for various purposes. It is harmless. The ultrasound used in the Emmi-dent uses only 0.2 watts. Medical research has shown that ultrasound up to 50 watts is not harmful to the human body.
It also poses no harm to anyone with a pacemaker.
What are the advantages of the ultra-clean microcleaning versus the regular cleaning with a toothbrush?
Emmi-dent’s micro cleaning cleans your whole mouth, the tongue and the teeth, in contrast to the macro-cleaning (using other regular brushes or electric brushes). It is a very gentle way to cleanse, because there is no need for mechanical movement. The gingiva will not be irritated, and, thus, people with sensitive gums love it. The cleaning effect is considerably better than the macro-cleaning.
Emmi-dent ultrasound also breaks down bacteria, promotes blood circulation in the gingiva and releases body energy. The ultrasound is also very effective against bleeding gums, bad breath and prevents periodontitis, aphthous ulcers and other dental diseases.
What is the difference between electric, sonic and ultrasonic tooth brushes?
Electric and sonic toothbrushes work mechanically. They are rubbing small particles with abrasive materials carried inside the toothpaste against the enamel. The abrasion is specified with the so- called RDA value; smaller values are better. Typical toothpastes have a RDA value of 70–130. These brushes operate with a mechanical vibration, rotation or swing of 20,000-30,000 vibrations per minute.
Our Emmi-dent Ultrasonic toothbrush uses ultrasound. It works motionless, without friction and without pressure and with a maximum of 96 million cycles per minute (the RDA value of Emmi-dent with the nano-bubble toothpaste is ZERO).
What is the difference with Emmi-dent and your regular toothbrush?
The Emmi-dent product looks and feels like a traditional electric toothbrush, but really isn’t working as such, since it cleans with ultrasound. Existing toothbrushes (e.g. manual brushes, electrical brushes, sonic brushes) work mechanically by brushing bristles against the enamel (we call this macro-cleaning). Emmi-dent works without any motion and rather by ultrasound (we call this micro-cleaning, because the ultrasound and the nano-bubbles of our toothpaste reach areas and clean where no bristle could ever reach).
Why and how does Emmi-dent specifically help implant patients?
With implants, there are two major problems: First, cleaning the teeth in the first 4-6 weeks after placing the implants is impossible with regular brushes because of infections and irritations. Cleaning the teeth with Emmi-dent ultrasound is possible even right after setting the implants (immediately after oral surgery, because bacteria is breaked down and the brush does not require movement). Studies have shown that peri-implant problems, e.g. gum pocket formation, suppuration, etc. can be prevented in most cases. This benefits both the patient as and the implantologist.
The second major problem with implants is the so called micro-gap, a small gap remaining between the implant, abutment and crown. Normally the gap is very small (typically between 2μ to about 45μ depending on the quality of implant). Through this gap dirt and bacteria may enter and lead to suppuration. Bacteria quickly multiply and creates bacterial colonies. Only through ultrasonic micro-cleaning can one break down these bacterial colonies and remove them safely.
Why is your Emmi-dent working better?
Manual, electric and sonic toothbrushes clean only where the bristles reach. They have to apply abrasive toothpastes. By contrast, Emmi-dent’s ultrasound cleans everywhere, even in places where dental floss cannot reach. Ultrasound cleans much more thoroughly than toothbrushes with brushes, and it cleans even deep inside fissures and gum pockets.
